The ORC kick-off meeting was held Friday, November 20, 2015 at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery, 330 North Orchard Street, Madison, WI in the Orchard View Room on the 3rd floor. The first meeting consisted of presentations by professors from the UW-Madison (Optimization faculty or Affiliates). The talks were somewhat tailored to the “interest area” of the industrial partners that attended. For more information on the Optimization faculty and Affiliates, visit our people page.
The purpose of the first meeting was to provide a forum for industrial partners to learn about our cutting edge research at the UW which could be used in their own endeavors. Industrial partners can also help us better understand applied optimization that is practiced in industry, government and international institutions. An Optimization consortium allows UW graduate students an opportunity to network with industry which enhances employment opportunities after graduation.
